Color grading
Nodes, curves, and channel mixing
Build a serial grade and shape contrast or color with targeted curves.
Build a serial node chain#
Add a serial node to separate a correction from the rest of the grade. Nodes process in order. Select, rename, disable, reset, delete, or move them Earlier/Later. Each node has its own primaries, curves, RGB mixer, qualifier, window, detail, LUT, key strength, and supported numeric animation.
A practical chain could separate basic exposure, a targeted color correction, and a final look. Bypass a node to compare its contribution. Unlike the Viewer-only Bypass grades control, node bypass is saved and affects export.
Shape curves#
Custom curves include Y, R, G, and B. Targeted curves include Hue vs Hue/Saturation/Luminance, Luminance vs Saturation, and Saturation vs Saturation/Luminance. Click to add a point, drag or use arrow keys to move it, or edit its numeric values. Interior points can be removed; endpoint input positions stay fixed.
Curves use piecewise-linear interpolation sampled at 64 positions. There are no Bezier tangents, soft-clip controls, or curve animation in this release. Make gradual adjustments and review the scopes for clipping.
RGB Mixer#
The mixer supplies a 3×3 channel matrix with monochrome, preserve-luminance, and normalization options. A channel's output can combine multiple input channels. Use small changes and inspect neutral areas; large coefficients can strongly alter brightness as well as color.
Topology limits#
Processing is serial. Parallel, layer, splitter/combiner, shared nodes, group grades, and timeline-wide grading are not available. Use separate clip grades or adjustment effects appropriate to your edit.
