Send a timeline to another editor

Two ways to transfer#

Keep clips editable transfers supported cuts, trims, track ordering, fractional rates, basic transforms, opacity, mute state, simple speed changes, and clip gain. Read Transfer notes before exporting: destination interchange formats cannot reproduce every feature.

Preserve appearance renders the final composite and stereo mix to a high-quality H.264/AAC file, then cuts that render at the original edit boundaries. The segments remain adjustable, but overlapping layers, text, grades, effects, and mix processing are baked into the media. Original sources can optionally be included.

Package contents#

Packages contain collected media, destination-specific timeline files or scripts, a source-project.json manifest, handoff.json, and import notes. Names are made collision-safe. A browser environment downloads a ZIP; desktop can write a folder under Downloads/Editor Exports.

What stays behind in editable mode#

Keyframe curves, masks, grades, advanced effects/mixing, generated graphics, and application-specific text styling do not become equivalent native effect controls. XML text is supplied separately as SRT. Non-uniform XML scaling is approximated using horizontal scale. Review retimed clips in the destination.

Choose a destination#

• Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve use Final Cut Pro 7 XML.
• After Effects uses a JSX composition builder.
• CapCut uses an experimental Python draft builder.

Launching an app does not always complete its import step. No existing destination project is overwritten. Keep the package's media alongside its timeline references.
