Import into After Effects or CapCut

After Effects#

1. Export an After Effects package and keep its media folder beside the scripts.
2. In After Effects, choose File → Scripts → Run Script File.
3. Run the supplied JSX composition builder.
4. Inspect the composition and save the resulting project as .aep.

macOS may block automatic control of another application. The JSX stays available for manual import. The transfer does not create native equivalents of every Editor effect, caption style, grade, or animation curve.

CapCut is experimental#

The package includes an optional Python draft builder. Install pycapcut in your own Python environment, then run the supplied importer with your CapCut drafts directory, following the package notes. Editor does not install Python dependencies automatically.

CapCut's draft schema is not a stable public interchange contract. The upstream adapter primarily targets Windows, and Mac draft compatibility varies. Work in a test draft and keep your original project.

Use the appearance video as a fallback#

If a CapCut draft does not open, import the rendered appearance MP4 as normal media. It retains the finished visual and audio result, though its effects are baked. The generated draft uses a full-length background lane to prevent magnetic main-track behavior from removing deliberate leading gaps.

Review after import#

Check the first and last frame, leading gaps, overlays, text, speed, and audio synchronization. Preserve appearance and editable transfer make different tradeoffs; see the handoff guide before choosing.
