Arrange panels and save layouts
Dock, group, float, resize, maximize, and restore your eight editing panels.
The eight panels#
Edit includes Project, Viewer, Inspector, Timeline, Titles, Captions, Effects, and Transitions. Tools have one home each; the Project sidebar contains Media, Sounds, Stickers, and Settings.
Move a panel#
- Grab its tab and drag it over another panel.
- Drop in the center to group the two panels as tabs.
- Drop on an edge to split that region.
- Drag the divider between regions to resize them.
The panel's ••• menu provides a Move panel selector as an alternative to dragging.
Float, maximize, and reopen#
Float panel detaches a panel inside the editor window, with handles for moving and resizing it. It does not create a separate operating-system window. Double-click a tab or use its maximize control to expand it; repeat the action or press Escape to restore it.
Close panel hides it from the current arrangement. Reopen it through Panels. Closing a panel does not remove its clips, captions, or effects.
Presets and saved workspaces#
Workspaces offers Editing, Captions, Effects, and Timeline presets. Save layout stores a named arrangement on this device; up to 12 named layouts are supported. The current arrangement persists between launches. Reset layout returns to the standard arrangement.
For a caption pass, put Captions beside the Viewer and keep the Timeline below. For detailed trimming, maximize the Timeline or use its preset. Layouts are device preferences, not a shared cloud workspace.
