Create and style titles

Add text at the playhead#

1. Open Titles, move the playhead to the insertion time, and enter your text.
2. Set the duration.
3. Choose Essential title, Editorial, Lower third, Clean subtitles, Yellow punch, Boxed captions, Electric, or End credits.
4. Select the new text element to refine it in Inspector.

Make the style yours#

Inspector provides font, color, weight, alignment, spacing, background, transform, and supported keyframes. Outline controls set the stroke color and width. Shadow controls set color, blur, and offsets. Check both bright and dark frames behind the title when choosing contrast.

Appearance sizes are based on a 1080p reference and scale with the canvas. A low-resolution output should preserve the title's proportions, though very fine strokes can become less readable at small sizes.

Restyle existing text#

Select text elements and choose Style selected before applying a preset. This changes appearance while preserving their content, position, and timing. The same operation is useful for making captions consistent across a text track.

Titles versus subtitle files#

Styled text is visible in the rendered video. SRT and VTT exports contain text and timing, without Editor's full appearance styling. Use video export for the look you built, or a subtitle sidecar when the receiving player or platform should handle presentation.
